Accessing OneDrive files and folder that have been shared with you

When they do, you will receive an email notifying you that you have been given access, at which point the folders will be available in OneDrive online.  You can create a shortcut to the folder(s), which will then sync to and be available in OneDrive on your laptop.

After the folders have been shared with you:

  • Go to OneDrive online (scsdrive.org)
  • Select “Shared” in the sidebar
  • Locate the shared folders (you can click the corresponding column headings to sort by file name, “Shared by” or “Date shared”)
  • Click More Options  (“…”)
  • Select “Add shortcut to my files)

  • A shortcut will be added to “My Files,” and will be synced to and available from your laptop.  The files will open in Office online - rather than the desktop app - as they are cloud files and do not actually reside on your computer.
  • If you want to move the shortcut to a different location in your OneDrive, click “More Options” and select “Move To,” then choose your desired location.
