Casting a YouTube video from a Mac or Windows computer
From a Mac computer using AppleTV
- Open the video link in any web browser
- Click the AirPlay icon in the right corner of the MacOS menu bar:
- Select your AppleTV from the list
- When you are finished, click the AirPlay icon and select “Stop AirPlay”
From a Mac computer without AppleTV
Google Chrome and Chromecast-capable device required.
- Open Chrome
- Open the link for the video you would like to cast
- Click the “Settings and More link” (“…”) in the upper-right corner of the screen
- Select “Cast…”
- Click “Sources” and select “Cast Tab”
- Select your TV from the list
- When you are finished, Click Settings and More/Cast/Click the cast device to disconnect
From a Windows computer
Google Chrome and Chromecast-capable device required. Third-party software (e.g. AirParrot) is required to cast to an AppleTV from a Windows computer
- Open Chrome
- Open the link for the video you would like to cast
- Click the “Settings and More link” (“…”) in the upper-right corner of the screen
- Select “Cast…”
- Click “Sources” and select “Cast Tab”
- Select your TV from the list
- When you are finished, Click Settings and More/Cast/Click the cast device to disconnect
